West Caldwell, NJ – November 2006: Conceptual
Product Development, Inc. is pleased to announce the
release of Doctor Walt’s Math Magic Book One,
written by Walter Silva, author of over 60 technical
books. This dramatic color book, presents math in a
friendly style for children and parents alike. Fast
Bound, 8 ½ X 11 Format, 194 pages, $24.95.
Doctor Walt’s Math Magic Book One provides a
stepping stone into the world of math for children in
grades four to seven. Walter Silva provides vibrant
full-color illustrations and detailed explanations for
topics such as fractions, number lines, basic geometry
and a multitude of word problems. This math book functions
both as a resource for challenging homework problems
and as a stand-alone course in elementary math. The
book presents the tools and solutions which prepare
children to understand concepts and ideas that enable
them to take their knowledge and apply it in their own
lives.
Walter Silva was inspired to write this book after
seeing friends struggle with helping their children
with homework. “Many parents and children are
afraid of math, and there’s no reason to be,”
he says. “Math should be simple. I wrote this
book to take the mystery out of math.”
Walter Silva is uniquely situated as a children’s
author. Best known for his technical books on CAD software,
he decided to take on this new endeavor after the positive
response for his CAD for Kids program and accompanying
book. Walt realized after working with children of various
ages that it is extremely important to generate a love
for math and greater math performance at an early age.
For the past ten years, Silva has been increasing his
involvement in the world of children. He appeared as
a guest speaker at the New Jersey Association for Gifted
Children in 2004, and has also presented CAD for Kids
to children at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
He also was a participant in the Institute of Children’s
Literature.
Doctor Walt’s Discovery Books is the second of
three new children’s series written and created
by Walter Silva. Silva blends his thirty-five years
of technical and writing experience with an understanding
of the way children learn, resulting in stimulating
instructional books. A unified edition of CAD for Kids
and its library, the next two books in the Adventure
Stories, a Discovery Book on computer graphics, and
Doctor Walt’s Bedtime Stories will all be released
in the coming months.
